About The Series:
On my travels in China I was fascinated with the Chinese zodiac animals and how they’re featured in everyone’s imagination. I was also struck by the many possibilities for interaction and collaboration between East and West.

I collaborated with printmaking organizations and artists from China, Australia, Europe and North America to create a twelve-year annual exhibition and exchange focused on the Chinese zodiac animals.

These are my original alumigraph and linocut prints from this twelve-year collaboration. Each year I integrated a Chinese zodiac animal layered with personal experience, memory and contemporary concerns to create this series of images.

About This Work:
In the year of the Tiger I focused on this endangered species and how humans have killed the beautiful tigers and displayed or repurposed its skins as fashion. I am glad that this practice has diminished and more people have become aware of how important it is to protect the many animals who coexist with us on this planet.

Each work is hand inked and hand printed from a collagraph plate that is covered with a thin layer of aluminum. Each image is slightly different from the others with chine colle Japanese paper and heat transfer text. The images are hand printed on 100% rag Somerset professional printmaking paper and signed with edition number on the front. The paper size is 11x12in.
