Artist Statement
The Hong Kong Project
NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2003
Infinite Proof: An East-West Artist Collective was established
in 2002 with the purpose of creating opportunities for artists/printmakers
from East and West to explore artistic vision and ideas together. In
November / December 2003 six members of the Infinite Proof Collective,
three from North America and three from China, were brought together
in the Hong Kong Project which provided opportunities for the members
of the Infinite Proof Collective to meet, teach, pursue artistic, educational
and cultural exchange, and to create personal work.
The seven members of Infinite Proof who participated in the Hong
Kong project were:
Jin Bao Ping Professor - Head of the Lithography Department,
Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts Xi’an, China
Karen Cornelius - Printmaker/Educator from Manitoba, Canada
Brenda Corriea - Printmaker/Educator from Massachusetts, USA
Jane Lui Sui - Printmaker/Educator from Hong Kong
Nik Semenoff – Printmaker and Professor emeritus from the University
of Saskatchewan, Canada
Xiao Lan Xiao - Printmaker/Exhibition curator at the Shanghai
Art Museum, Shanghai, China.
Jacob Semko, MA Student printmaker accompanied Nik Semenoff as
printer’s assistant
The Hong Kong project was hosted by the Hong Kong Institute of
Education in partnership with the Hong Kong Visual Arts Center and supported
by the Cultural Affairs Department of the Canadian Embassy in Hong Kong.
The Manitoba Arts Council and the Saskatchewan Arts Council provided the
Canadian participants financial support.

In addition to the general program opportunities
for cross cultural experience and exposure to the arts and artists
in Hong Kong were provided for the members of the Infinite Proof Collective
during their one month programme in Hong Kong.
