Fabric of Belonging

Fabric of Belonging explores the tension of being both inside and outside of a society. My childhood dress is fluffy and fun expressing the simplicity and innocence of childhood. In contrast the patterned background in each image explores the complexity of the situation, the danger, the fear and the uncertainty marking my survival as a little girl during an escape from an uprising in the Congo.”
